The Frontier Subcommittee
Friday, July 6, 2012
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda attended a meeting of the fourth Frontier Subcommittee of the Council on National Strategy and Policy held at the Prime Minister's Office.
Discussions took place on the report of the Frontier Subcommittee and other matters, and the report of the Frontier Subcommittee and reports of the four panels, namely Wisdom, Prosperity, Happiness and Peace, were decided.
Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "At the first meeting of this subcommittee, I asked for making bold suggestions, which can sometimes be unconventional. I understand that wide-ranging discussions took place, and I feel grateful from my heart that such discussions were compiled in a short period with the Chairman taking the lead.
In the report that has been compiled today, the national vision of a "country of co-creation," wherein every ability of the country is exerted and new values are generated through creative connections, was set out. The direction of the policy that had been set out is wonderful.
I believe that it is necessary for Japan to realize the creation of a country in line with the idea of a "country of co-creation" to become a "country of pride and hope," and also to take initiative internationally by presenting this pioneering national model to the world.
Many of the members who attended the subcommittees were youths, women and representatives of various regions. I believe that the activities of this Frontier Subcommittee to discuss the realization of the ideal state of Japan were precisely the first step towards the creation of a "country of co-creation."
We would like to fully reflect the idea presented in this report into the Strategy for Revitalizing Japan, which is to be compiled in the near future. In addition, I would like to expect that this report results in raising discussions on the creation of the country not only within the government but throughout the entire society."
